We just learned that the Lands and Property Rights Tribunal has ordered the Town of Canmore to adopt both the Smith Creek and Three Sisters Village area structure plans as originally submitted.
You can read more about their decision in today’s RMO article.
It’s shocking, frustrating, and altogether disappointing.
We are wondering what was the point of the area structure plans going to our democratically elected Town Council in the first place, if a non-elected body is making the final decision about the future of our community?
The legal process, however, is not over. The Town has the right to appeal.
And the need to engage is stronger than ever.
We’ll be bringing you more information as soon as we have it.
In the meantime, we encourage you to get involved with our No to the proposed development in the South Canmore Wildlife Habitat Patch campaign — it may be the only bit of protected wildlife space that we have left…
