Welcome to the revamped and revitalized Bow Valley Engage platform where citizens can learn about and take action on issues that have the potential to alter our special community forever.
We started in 2017 in response to the last proposal to develop the Three Sisters lands (subsequently rejected by Town Council). But now, yet again, these same important lands are once again at risk.
That’s why we’re relaunching the site to encourage citizens to learn more about the Three Sisters Mountain Village (TSMV) proposal, and to engage and take action.
Yes, we know; it’s been an issue that’s cropped up repeatedly over the last 30 years but now is no time to not get involved. But this latest proposal will double the size of our community and alter it forever.
Why are these lands so important? They comprise 80% of the remaining developable land in Canmore and include a continentally significant and locally important wildlife corridor. The proposed developments will also leave taxpayers with long term financial and legal risks, affect our community’s ability to meet our emissions reduction targets, and will fail to meet our true needs for affordable housing.
If that all sounds a bit concerning, it is. The TSMV proposal will forever alter the fabric of our town and community, and not for the better. If you want to learn more, we’ve made it easy for you: just click here.
You have a voice and the Bow Valley Engage platform is here to amplify it. We’ve created the opportunity for you to get involved and have your views heard by town council and the mayor’s office, and we’ve created a social media guide that gives tips and resources to help you post your views online.
And there’s more. This site is meant to encompass the perspectives of Canmore residents and all concerned parties about the future of our beautiful mountain town. A mountain town where community, nature, and coexistence with wildlife are valued and respected. We’re a work in progress and will be updated this site with much more content, information, and opportunities for you to engage. Stay tuned.
Please say hi, join our mailing list, and we look forward to engaging with you on the these important matters. And happy new year!
